I was gonna do something on the PSP divisional sideline coaching with the now canceled 'designated spectator' but it doesn't really matter how riled up some of y'all are over that because it's not coming back. Not when the insurer says "nyet" and in one season it resulted in two lawsuits. I don't find the lawsuits hard to believe but I do find them pathetic. (It's not like a support pole collapsed and crushed somebody or Marlene ran over anyone in her golf cart of death and, while I've heard rumors, I've seen absolutely zero proof that Waterman tanked that mouthy chick in Chicago.) And Shakespeare had it right. (Unless, of course, you are a lawyer and a regular reader of VFTD--then it's just all the other lawyers that I was referring to.)
Moving on I think the NPPL needs some VFTD loving this week so this poll is for them; Chuck, Bart & Frank. Online registration is supposed to open today for HB but when I checked a few minutes ago it wasn't yet available. That being the case this week's poll asks you to predict the number of teams that will be participating in the 2010 Surf City Open. And since providing individual numbers would produce a rather unwieldy poll I'll just give a range of choices. For example, 0 would indicate you don't think the event is gonna happen and any range of numbers above zero is the total team participation. Got it? Then click & vote. Here at VFTD it's not a right, it's a privilege.

I say 92. That was the number of teams at the original HB event in '03.
Wishful thinking, I'm afraid, Missy. I will be amazed if it breaks 50. (I won't be amazed if they put on the event even if it's an obvious loser because, hey, we did that all last year.)
50 would be a disaster. I'm interested in what Angel to for their VIP. This is the first time they've done one without yours truly, and I plan to be on the receiving end this year for a change.
