The Great Social Media Experiment Continues

It's official, Twitter sucks. But then I'm not doing it right, or taking full advantage of the potential or some similar nonsense. Thing is I don't "follow" anybody--actually I think I follow 3 or 4 other sites and frankly, one of them is really starting to annoy me. The problem is I don't want to network. I don't care what special sale Joe's PB Emporium has this weekend only or what color your DM 9 turned when you baked it in the oven or even how instrumental the raid you led against the Klingons was in last weekend's scenario game. I really don't want to know about the new rims you bought or that Scrappy has worms--again. And I sure as hell don't want to be bombarded with hundreds of dumbass tweets from the hordes of mostly imbeciles who think they have a life 'cus they "tweet" the same lame, boring worthless drivel out into cyberspace that they text to their friends.

So maybe Facebook?

'Early on someone said “twitter is fun but it isn’t useful”. Ev said “Neither is ice cream”.'

facebook sucks. same bullshit, but it's called a "status update."
and people you don't want to talk to will friend you... and try to talk to you. I would just not get involved while you can.

There's nothing wrong with having a one-way twitter feed. Do you think Oprah interacts with all her followers?

Please the reality of it is fb is for the narcissistic personalities in all of us. A great way to waste time at work and a great way to take a magnifying glass to the screwed up world of your friends and friend's friends... but it does make for a great photo gallery so props for that and it's a great way to tell your friends that your entire life revolves around paintball and nothing much else!

The only thing I've found Twitter to be useful for is letting my customers know when the field's going to be closed due to bad weather.

I try to keep my twitter and facebook clutter down to a minimum.
