Hanging with Mr. C

I'ma keep this short and sweet since it's getting late and we are starting early. Mutiny is a no show here at the NPPL's DC Open. As a consequence the pro brackets have 7 & 6 teams respectively. It changed the schedules slightly and altered the odds of making Sunday between the two brackets but it isn't a big deal. The venue looks good. The fields look great and the organization of the small vendor village is a model of efficiency. Unlike other recent NPPL events the pro schedule for Friday and Saturday runs in the morning. First matches are at 8 am.
Mr. Curious is cautiously creeping about in the shadows and whispered me some early teasers to get the weekend off to a good start. Dynasty is fielding a unusual roster here. Yosh is acting in a coaching capacity at least in part because he's got a hand immobilized in a protective wrap rumored to have been injured in a fight with Ollie after the MAO. While unclear rumor also has it there was another participant involved in the altercation and Ollie isn't in Virginia. And in a follow-up to the Social Paintball report that Mike Hinman has resigned as coach of Dynasty  Mr. C says Mike's next stop will be with the Ironmen and that SK will continue as an assistant coach as his other duties at Dye demand more of his time.
Mr. C is also sniffing around the rumor that Richmond Italia may be interested in investing in the NPPL. Richmond is supposed to be on site tomorrow. Just what if anything an investment in the NPPL may amount to is unclear at this time.
More from Mr. C as he relays it to VFTD. And a report from the DC Open Day 1 tomorrow.

Nobody "invests" in the NPPL. You just prop it up for a bit longer with money you'll never see again.

And this makes it different from the other league in what way?

About Dynasty... Mr C just confirmed what a friend told me.. apparently not only Ollie and Himan left, Goldman, Vanderbyl and Mesa have also left Dynasty..

@anon#3: PSP isn't constantly chasing new suckers to "invest" in them.

Oliver's paintball facebook page suggests he is holding a clinic in Aruba this weekend, his personal page seems to be full of game spam.

That makes me seem like a stalker!

Re: "Investing in the NPPL" Yes, of course.

Mr Curious says, "I'm not predicting anything with regards to who is or isn't currently on the Dynasty roster or who may have left, officially or unofficially, except for Mike H. As to who else was invloved in the altercation two of the names mentioned in the comments are ones I've also heard."

When Oliver rejoined Dynasty all the newer players seemed to leave and their dominance has fallen by the wayside too, except in the MS where their roster is heavily bolstered by Impact. Maybe it's all too much for his ego to cope with.

I did leave the team. It was time. As for players the only departure I know of is Mike McCormick.

Paintball is an adrenaline sport... people fight.... then get over it.

When Oliver rejoined the team, they won HB, Galveston, and a euro event. There was talk of them going undefeated.

Everyone keeps talking about what "is wrong" with Dynasty.....

In my view, there is nothing wrong, except for the fact that when they dominated the sport, they (and possibly Legion) were the only teams that invested as much time and effort in the sport as was needed.

Those days are over, and now there are around 10 teams that do, which makes the top a lot broader, and the podium much more fiercely contested.

At the same time, I would venture a guess that Dynasty is practising less (as a team), than they used to, because so many of the players have other responsibilities around the world, all the time.

So, nothing is wrong really, the rest just got a lot better, and started taking the sport as seriously.... while Dynasty took the foot off the gas slightly.

Just watch, next year Heat will be struggling too, as more and more of the team players have to take time off practising, to go make money around the world doing clinics, promotion and playing with other teams.

It's the nature of our sport, where the top pro have to get a lot of alternative income (outside the team) to make ends meet.

When watching them play, it seems like Dynasty just doesn't give a shit anymore; at least not as much of a shit as the other guys in the league. They've lost the hunger to win IMO.

And I expect you believe that allegedly Yosh punched oliver because he didn't have the hunger to win?
Nick is right. and Ive expressed that same sentiment before.

@Dan - No, I think they were pissed off at losing (again), then some words were exchanged, along with a few fists.

Re: Fight. Mr. C says Yosh's involvement was apparently kinda incidental as he was drawn into it and not one of the principle combatants.

Re: Dynasty. Literally and figuratively they aren't the team they once were. There have been some significant personnel changes and part of what made Dynasty great wasn't just great players, it was great chemistry. And while motivated players who want to be the best can stay driven when they continue to have unmet goals it's almost impossible to stay hungry when you've reached those goals and been the best. A significant part of the team's greatness is their longevity.

Exactly, and motivation is key to training enough, as well as training right.
