The State of Sponsorship

Unlike the upcoming State of the Union soon to be teleprompted by POTUS across the network television spectrum I'ma keep this one short and to the point. Five years ago any team that didn't have their sponsorship in place by the beginning of January was either getting picked up for pennies on the dollar or not getting picked up at all. This year it took Dynasty (DYNASTY!) until just recently to get their principle deal done.

My team has had our paint contingency discount sponcership along with our home field sticker discount worked out for weeks. One of our guys knows someone at snap-on tools so it's only a matter of time until we get that one.

I know it is common practice to call discount programs sponsorship but that's not what actual paintball sponsorship has been in the past--though we're quickly headed that way for everybody--or nearly everybody.

If snap-on is a no go you might try the craftsmen guys at Sears.

When times are tough like these and paintball related sponsors who shell out cash, paint and free gear are non-existant, it's time for teams to start looking at non-paintball related businesses as possible cash sponsors... if snap-on tools are willing to jump on board for Anon's team why not...

I have to wonder how much value non-paintball industry businesses will find in sponsoring paintball teams. Let's face it, it's a pretty specialized market with narrow spectatorship. Not saying there is no value in it, but it certainly wouldn't be worth big bucks.

What do you mean? I have a non-biding document right here that says sponcership in the title and it states we get to buy X cases at one price and if we shoot more than that we get an extra discount. You're telling me that's not sponcership? What next, those guns we got from planet for $650ea don't get as sponsorship? Sure we had to buy 3 more than we needed, but we sold them for cheap. It's good to be sponcered.

Yeah spelling isn't high on the Paintballers list of things to do.
