No Chicago NPPL Webcast
That is the word from an impeccable source buried deep within the bowels of the NPPL. (And I can't--don't want to--imagine how unpleasant that must be.) The source pleaded ignorance when it came to the details but was willing to assert that a dialogue remains open between the league and the ESPN3 peeps. Additionally a different source suggested that xbox numbers are more difficult to assess with final xbox numbers likely available the end of this month. What impact, if any, that might have is unclear.

Do we even want an "ESPN" webcast?
I don't think anyone (in paintball) wants an ESPN webcast, unless it's a stepping stone to an ESPN broadcast.
Actually, I really think the ESPN distribution was an elegant solution. Yea, I get that people are pissed their ISP doesn't carry it, But its no different than a cable company not carrying a channel, or charging more for one. Yea it sucks, and if it sucks enough, you'll change providers.
What was elegant about the ESPN solution over the usual webcast?
Maybe they didn't get enough hits because that one website was stealing the feed?
I did like the webcast. Paintball has gone this direction twice before and nothing good has come from it.
Anon, I could easily find and watch it on my television, rather than my puny 13" laptop. finding and connecting was not difficult. there was no random registration before hand.
Espn was responsible for the tech end of things. which they are good at. the content was up to the NPPL. which still needs some improvement.
