Brothers in Paint

Post title is the link to the 4 part video: Brothers in Paint. Produced by one of the players for Cyclone the piece won awards at the North American Association for Consumer Research 2009. Its now recut and subtitled so its more suitable for public viewing. The ideas presented may not be new to the thinking paintballer--all six of you--but the context is unique and offers some good insights into the world of competitive paintball. Check it out. (Thanks, Sam)

Wouldn't it be funny if some big marketing VP that actually pays attention to whatever the heck something like the North American Association for Consumer Research puts out got interested in paintball events as "the next big thing" resulting from this video?

We can dream can't we...? Maybe we're going about it all wrong. Instead of being so desperate and going out and trying to win their attention with TV spots, etc. we need obscure but ground breaking research done in our industry that draws attention of people with too much money and brains...

BTW - after watching the videos (well the first and last one), I think there really isn't much ground breaking or insightful for us in paintball. I can see how it would be interesting for researchers who like the idea of odd, tight knit communities that invest their lives and money into something that really doesn't matter and that the participants hate as much as they love (at times)

(projecting much?)

Anonachris, you got that right - actually what you just said is the point of the video really.

This first study was a descriptive one (to se the scene in a way). Now that we have professional equipment and we actually know a bit about what we are doing, we can begin planning a follow-up project that will follow a more specific theme.
