Rule of the Game

Rule of the Game #14: most aftermarket parts are purely cosmetic. Those that aren't are still, more often than not, unnecessary. (Call me all the names you like but, please, no sticks and stones. I have sensitive skin and a soft head.)

hey its a proven fact that stickers make your gun shoot more accurately.

I disagree. Stickers can make your marker unbalanced if not placed symetrically, therefore shooting less acurately!

I agree with Baca. Even the semi-auto stuff those kids have on those modern fan-dangled markers these days is unecessary. There was nothing wrong with pumping between every shot.

Seriously, as a field owner that doesn't operate a paintball store, when a customer asks me what they should get for their marker to improve their game, unless they have a crappy barrel, my answer is "paintballs".

Practice will do much more for your game than virtually any upgrade.

You mean my carbon fiber trigger won't make me shoot 40 people out a game?

Shens.

Anything more than an Ion or its equivalent is completely unnecessary. Anyone posting on this saying "ya I agree with Baca" and is not shooting an Ion or similar gun is a hypocrite.

ps - I could have 20 of any gun I want and choose to shoot an Ion (or Rail depending what I'm loaning out)

baca is correct, sometimes aftermarket stuff will just break your gun. stock is the way to be, especially in this day and age (of guns that come with everything out of the box).

I believe it was World Cup 2 years ago that I went into the Dye booth with a Toxic Matrix... (Of course.. they couldn't fix it.. bastards) I told the guy "Well, I am getting to my primary bunker... But when I go to slide into the snake I am getting shot"

I have yet to find an upgrade that can fix this problem... Any help?

Chris you just need a Sandana. It took me a while but I found out that bitching headwear makes you slide better.

Wouldn't a low pressure kit be considered a performance upgrade? If it allows you to get more shots, or shoot more fragile paint I would consider that worth it.
What about a barrel kit with different bore-sizes?
Is a clamping feed-neck a waste of money?
How about a soft-face bolt?
The accessory market is dead because the gun manufacturers will not permit it to thrive. That would make a better article.
Here are 3 successful gun accessory manufacturers from yesteryear - Can you guess why marker manufacturers fear letting another into the marketplace?

Planet Eclipse - Built the eclipse brand on Angel and WGP accessories. Went on to make their own marker.
Dye Precision - Had much success with Angel and Cocker accessories. Went on to make their own marker
Smart Parts - main supplier for Cocker and A-mag accessories. Went on to make their own marker.

Hey Missy
Practically back in the archives here. I take your accessories point and counter with Taso and the 900 varieties of trigger available.
Even so, yes, there are retrofit items on the market that may offer actual improvement but I would posit that not even all the items that might be useful are necessarily useful.
As to the barrel kit biz I think it has limited utility for certain kinds of guns but that the bulk of current guns aren't improved.
So who doesn't have a clamping feed neck these days? And, yes, the foamy worked like a charm in the old minimag.
