Rules of the Game

Baca's Rule #15: Nobody has ever won a tournament keeping score in practice--or lying about it afterwards.

Maybe not. But for those of us who suck at tournament ball, at least we can win practices. ;)

Of course not. Nobody ever won a tournament that wasn't actually playing in a tournament at the time. Otherwise, that would be witchcraft.
Guessing this is a dig at someone, but seeing as I just complimented you on your writing in another blog, I feel good about balancing that out with a 'WTF' on this one.

Baca says,
The point, Missy, is that a lot of teams and players lose focus on what the value of practice is by trying to "win it" -- a practice which is almost guranteed to be counterproductive.

aaaaHaaaaaaa! Yes. And many, many, many teams stop practicing (or at least stop practicing against opponents who could teach them something) because they keep 'losing' at practice.

Switch the dynamic folks. Losing is not losing. Losing is gaining a valuable learning experience. Take the pain, analyze the why, figure out how to correct it, implement the correction and move on.
