Burning Question

Did the PSP cancel All-Star Sunday on account of paint? Or maybe a better question would be--Why did the PSP cancel the All-Star activities without bothering to tell anyone?

Was it canceled? Or just not continued? I didn't note it was announced this year, but could have missed it.

I don't know for sure why they're not having it this year, but I can tell you that the Pro field is in use for almost the entire 5 days with the increase in Semi-Pro teams and the 4-match RaceTo-7 prelims. Might have still had it had they gone with three match prelims.

I'm not sure the paint thing holds much water - 3 more matches on top of the other 32 matches played doesn't seem like a dealbreaker.

I thought it had more to do with there not being an NXL league anymore.

My guess would be that it was a product for which there was no demand. Also, the professional players didn't take it seriously. Didn't one entire team show up drunk or hungover for the allstar game one year recently?

Yeah it was a joke. Funny to watch sometimes. Tyler harmon playing with a water gun was good. But then didn't he break his arm playing the allstar game too? I bet it was hard trying to find players after that.

I'm sure there's any number of reasonable explanations after the fact. And it really isn't a big deal although while they were doing it it was.
One real issue was pushing the whole event back an extra day.
And on one occasion, okay, on a couple of occasions, a few players showed up not necessarily capable of their peak performance. But last year everybody wanted to win because the West hadn't won before (and still hasn't) and the deciding match went to OT.

wasn't last year the year that Kevin Brethauer tried to play on BC's shoulders?
I seem to remember that the west didn't take it seriously at all, but then I guess that would undermine the East's victory, and I certainly wouldn't want to do that.....

I don't think it was last year, Missy. I think that was two years ago and that was after the West had already lost--but I could be remembering that incorrectly. Besides, however you remember it the West ain't won it yet. ;-)
